Dodge and Burn

This is the photo I decided to use. It definitely seems a bit bright so my plan was to burn it to bring the brightness down as much as I could just in some areas. I didn't want to take away from the plant either because that is the subject. This is my photo after it has been burned. This was very difficult for me to do to get the right shades in the right area. I tried to bring down the brightness of the background of the photo (everywhere but the plant). Then I tried to tone down the brightness in just a few different areas of the plant. I did want the plant to stay bright because it is the subject of the photo though. There are some spots on the leaves of the plant around the edges that seem to bright but I had a real hard time toning those down!

Were you going to try filters, Nikki?

Great job burning! You really brought out the shadows in the leaves and chair nicely.

your original was very bright you did well with the burn, lowering the light makes the whole picture more pleasant to view and your plant stands out better

I really enjoyed the way you burned this photo, it brought out all of the right features.

Nikki, I like your examples of the burn effects. I think what you did makes the plant come to life. I like the colors that are enhanced by this effect. Nice job.
