I chose to photograph one of my decorative wine glasses. Below are two of my favorite photos!
The angle at which this photo was taken was from the top of the wine glass. I chose the "flower" setting on my camera so that I would be able to get really close up and still achieve a clear picture. To take the photo I put my camera above the wine glass and got so close up that my lens was literally inside the glass. Then I just snapped the shot!
This photo was taken down low looking up at the wine glass. I also chose the "flower" setting for this photo as well so I could get a little closer without producing a blurry photo. To take the photo I set my camera down, tipped it back a little bit and then snapped the shot!
Out of these two photos, my favorite is the one I took of the inside of the glass. I like this one best because it looks very interesting! Just looking at this photo you probably wouldn't have known this was a wine glass unless I said it. While completing this assignment I realized how important point-of-view actually is. It amazes me that taking a picture from a different point-of-view can make the object look completely different. It can make for a totally different affect/impact and picture!
I really like the photo of the inside of the glass as well. If I did not have another photo to tell what it was, I would have never known it was a glass! Very interesting! I have not tried the flower setting on my camera yet, but will in the near future. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI agree, love the shot of the inside of the glass, I like the light play between the glass and the design.
ReplyDeleteI was excited until there was no wine in the glass. (insert sarcasm) why did you choose that glass?
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteLove the sarcasm! To answer your question I honestly thought that the glass would just be something that I could photograph well from different angles. It took me 2 days just walking around my house looking things over to find something a bit interesting photograph! I actually found it hard to find something to take pictures of! But when I saw the glass, which was tucked away in my cupboard, I just knew I wanted to use it!
Nikki these are great. I love all of them and really am jealous. You had the right light on all of them, as well as exposure. Great views and angles.
ReplyDeleteI really like the second photo. Even though with the second one you are unable to tell what it is the colors make a fantastic photo. I can see why this is your favorite wine glass! It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow these are great and I really like the idea of getting inside the glass to take the photo. These are very beautiful and shows the detail of the design of the wine glass. Nice job Nikki!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for all of the comments! I find it extremely helpful! Well here's looking towards Week Three for everybody! :D
ReplyDeleteSo now that it is week 3 you know the "flower" setting is Macro, right"-D
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteI was totally going to mention that in my comments on my collage! I've always called it the "flower" setting, which seems really silly now! I'm so happy to finally be able to put a real name to it! It's one of my favorite settings!
